Clay bar your windshield!
I did some rust repair yesterday (that post will be along later today for those interested) and naturally overspray, as it does, found a way to get everywhere, including my windshield. While using clay to take the overspray off the hood, door, and even the fender on the opposite side of where I was painting, I did the glass too - this is the cleanest it’s been (on the outside at least...) since it was installed! Good news for people like me who are OCD about a clear windshield...

Never thought about that. Did you use the same technique as used on paint?

It sort of makes sense - cleans it the same way as your paint, but it’s not something I’d considered before

Yes - I took the clay and rubbed it on the glass, when it started to stick I’d knead a little bit of Quick Detailer into the clay and have back at it, same as anywhere else

It’s so bad over time for the windshield to do that.

How so? Glass is harder than paint/clearcoat, and clay is definitely more gentle than ice scrapers, so how is it bad for it?

Cool video!
If this windshield had more than about 12k miles on it, I’d definitely at least do the polishing part - the razor is a good idea too. And he used clay! My old windshield (before it exploded randomly one very cold day at a stop sign) was terribly scratched and chipped.
Also I clean my wipers like that any time I’m cleaning the windshield, or any other glass, or just happen to feel like it. It makes an amazing difference - I’ve done it on other people’s cars and they can’t believe how well the wipers work afterwards.

I love Larry’s videos, he’s an awesome detailer! Honestly for my glass since its been prepped and sealed Chemical Guys Hybrid V07 detail spray works the best for exterior windows for me. Interior windows get the Stoners stuff and it’s all good. I have some rain-x stuff but I really don’t like it. As far as glass cleaners go, stoners is the best I’ve used. But for glass I have only used OTC cleaners, no professional stuff for that yet as I don’t see the need for it

Have you ever used a razor blade scraper on your windshield?

No - I’ve never had enough crap on it to need such a thing. This windshield is only like 10-12k miles old, the one before it I would have scraped if it lasted long enough into owning the car, though. It was awful in every way, and randomly exploded one cold evening
